How to unlock Power, Speed and Throttle - Xplorer modelsUpdated 4 months ago

By proceeding with any modifications, you accept full responsibility and agree to the following terms:

  1. Legal Liability: You are solely accountable for any legal consequences, including fines, penalties, or sanctions, resulting from the use of an unlocked or modified eBike on public roads.

    • Under the Australian Road Rules and relevant state laws, an eBike that exceeds 250W of continuous power output, a 25km/h pedal-assisted speed limit, or a 6km/h throttle speed limit, does not meet the legal classification of a bicycle. As such, it may be subject to motor vehicle regulations, which include registration, licensing, and insurance requirements.
  2. Accidents & Injuries: Any injuries, damages, or accidents caused by operating a modified eBike are entirely at your own risk. Ridewave Bikes does not accept any liability for such occurrences.

  3. Warranty Implications: Unauthorized alterations to your eBike's advanced settings may result in the voiding of certain warranty provisions, including coverage for repairs, maintenance, or replacements.

Ridewave Bikes takes no legal, financial, or personal responsibility for the misuse of these settings. By unlocking or modifying your eBike, you acknowledge that you are acting at your own discretion and agree to comply with all applicable local laws.

Ride Responsibly. Ride Safely.

1. Legal Compliance and Riding Guidelines:

  • Power:

    • Public Roads: Most Australian states: 250W (Eco Mode). NSW: 500W (Tour Mode allowed for Xplorer, Xplorer Plus, and Xplorer Sport models).
    • Private Properties and Off-Road Use: Fully unlocked power modes (e.g., Sport Mode) permitted, but check local regulations.
  • Speed: 25km/h is the legal speed limit on public roads. Speed adjustments are for private property or off-road use only. Consult local regulations.

  • Throttle: Default throttle assistance is up to 6km/h (legal for public roads). Unlocking is permitted for private property or off-road use only.

All Xplorer eBike models are designed to comply with Australian regulations, featuring a default power limit of 250W (500W in NSW), a maximum speed limit of 25km/h for public road use, and a default throttle limit of 6km/h as required for legal compliance in all states and territories. In NSW, customers can legally unlock Tour Mode to achieve a continuous power output of up to 500W while remaining within the state's regulations.

Important Notes

  1. Always comply with local regulations regarding power output to ensure legal and safe operation.
  2. For safety and reliability, choose a power mode that matches your riding environment and experience level.
  3. Improper or unauthorized modifications to the eBike may void warranty and could result in legal consequences.

  2. Adjust the speed limit as desired. The default speed limit is 25km/h, which complies with legal regulations in most Australian states.

Maximum Speed (Fully Unlocked for Private or Off-Road Use)

When the motor is fully unlocked, higher speeds are achievable. These settings are intended only for private properties or off-road terrains. Local regulations must be followed.

Xplorer 500W

  • Without Pedal Assist: Maximum speed of 32–35 km/h (on flat terrain)

Xplorer Plus 750W

Safety Reminder:
eBikes with fully unlocked motors are designed for off-road or private property use only. Always check and adhere to local laws and regulations when using your eBike in different environments. Using unlocked speed settings on public roads may violate legal requirements.

5. Unlocking Throttle Assistance

By default, the throttle assistance is limited to 6km/h, designed to help start the eBike from a standstill, in compliance with Australian road regulations. However, the throttle can be unlocked for private property or off-road use.

Steps to Unlock Throttle Assistance:

  1. Turn off the Display: Ensure the eBike display is powered off.
  2. Prepare the Throttle and Brakes:
    • Fully twist and hold the throttle.
    • Press and hold both brake levers at the same time.
  3. Power On the Display:
    • While holding the throttle and brakes, press the power button to turn on the display.
  4. Wait 5 Seconds:
    • Continue holding the throttle and brakes for at least 5 seconds after the display powers on.
  5. Release Everything:
    • After 5 seconds, release the throttle, brakes, and power button completely.
  6. Test the Throttle Assistance:
    • Set the assistance level to 1.
    • Sit on the bike and gently twist the throttle. If unlocked, the throttle will now be linked to the maximum speed setting.

Important Note:

Once the throttle is fully unlocked, the throttle assistance will operate based on the maximum speed limit set in the advanced settings.
Using unlocked throttle settings is not legal on public roads and should only be used on private property or off-road terrains. Always check and adhere to local regulations.
