Test Rides, Showrooms and Choosing the Right ModelUpdated 2 hours ago
A test ride is the best way to move from “this looks suitable” to “this works for me.” Specifications matter, but comfort, confidence and storage practicality are easier to assess in person.
Ridewave has Melbourne and Sydney showroom support. Visit our Locations page and use the Request a Test Ride option so our team can check the best available arrangement for the model and location you need.
Tell us what you need before the appointment
Include your height, usual route, daily distance, hills, cargo plans and storage/transport needs. If you are comparing e-trikes, tell us whether you prefer an upright or a semi-recumbent position. This helps us prepare the most useful models and conversation.
If you are outside a showroom area, tell us your suburb/postcode and the models you want to try. Ridewave may be able to check whether a local brand advocate can offer a test ride, but this is not guaranteed in every area.
Use this e-bike test-ride checklist
For a folding e-bike, check:
- Can you stand over, mount and stop comfortably?
- Is the handlebar reach comfortable for your shoulders and wrists?
- Can you select gears and pedal assist without feeling rushed?
- Does the seat height give you both comfortable pedalling and confidence at a stop?
- Can you fold, unfold and move the bike safely?
- Can you lift it—or remove the battery and lift it—in the way you expect to transport it?
Use this e-trike test-ride checklist
For an e-trike, check:
- Can you get on and off the low-step frame comfortably?
- Does the upright or semi-recumbent seat position support you well?
- Can you reach the brakes and controls without strain?
- Can you make a slow, wide turn in both directions with confidence?
- Can you reverse and park it at low speed?
- Does the trike fit through a space similar to your gate, shed or vehicle access?
Start slowly. An e-trike handles differently from a bicycle, especially in corners; use the first part of the ride to practise smooth braking, wide turns and controlled starts.
Bring useful information
Bring a tape measure, photos of your storage area or car rack, and the footwear you normally ride in. If carrying cargo matters, tell us what you plan to carry and how often. If a hill is a concern, show us a route photo or map rather than relying on “steep” as a description.
The aim is not to find the most features—it is to find the model you will use comfortably and safely every week.
