Folding Latch Will Not Close or Lock SecurelyUpdated 3 hours ago
Do not ride or lift a folding Ridewave vehicle by its frame if its folding latch is not fully closed and locked. A folding joint is safety-critical: it must close cleanly, sit flush and remain secure throughout the ride.
Check the simple causes first
With the vehicle switched off and supported securely:
1. Make sure no cable, accessory, bag, clothing or packing material is caught near the folding joint. 2. Check that both frame sections are aligned before closing the latch. Do not force the joint together from an angle. 3. Look for dirt, obvious damage, a loose-looking fastener or a latch that does not sit flush. 4. Close the latch using the normal procedure for your model, then confirm it is fully engaged before moving the vehicle.
Do not use straps, tape, bungee cords or an improvised lock to hold a folding joint closed. Do not ride with a partly closed latch.
If the latch is stiff
Road dirt and normal use can make external moving parts feel stiff. Wipe away loose surface dirt with a dry cloth. Do not spray lubricant into the frame, electrical areas or latch internals, and do not alter latch tension unless Ridewave or a qualified bike technician has confirmed the procedure for your exact model.
Stop and arrange inspection if
Do not ride or transport the vehicle in a way that loads the folding joint if the latch will not close, opens unexpectedly, has visible damage, has abnormal movement when locked, or the issue began after an impact. A qualified technician should inspect the folding mechanism.
Need help?
Please submit a warranty claim with your model, order number, wide photos of the joint and latch, and a short stationary video showing what prevents it from closing. Do not force the latch for the video. For general folding guidance, contact Ridewave.
