Rear Wheel & Tail Light Removal

This guide explains how to remove the rear wheel and rear tail light from the bike.

Tools Required

  • 18 mm wrench
  • 4 mm Allen key
  • 2 mm hex key
  • Cable cutters

Before You Start

  • Turn off the bike and remove the battery if applicable.
  • It is easiest to turn the bike upside down for this process.
  • Keep all nuts, washers, and small bolts in a tray to avoid losing them.
  • Take photos of the cable routing before disconnecting anything.

Step 1 — Remove the Rear Axle Nuts

Using an 18 mm wrench, loosen and remove the rear axle nuts.

Please take care not to lose any exterior washers or internal locking washers. Set these aside safely for reinstallation later.

Step 2 — Free the Rear Brake Caliper and Motor Cable

Use a 4 mm Allen key to loosen the two screws holding the rear brake caliper and motor cable in place.

Once loosened, carefully turn them to the side to free the motor cable from underneath.

Step 3 — Disconnect the Motor Cable

  1. Locate the motor cable cover near the rear wheel.
  2. Loosen and remove the four small hex bolts using a 2 mm hex key.
  3. Carefully remove the cover.
  4. Cut the zip tie holding the cable bundle in place to give the wiring more movement.
  5. Disconnect the motor cable.

You may need to move the cable out from where it is caught between the frame and kickstand area to remove the rear wheel properly.

Step 4 — Remove the Rear Wheel

Carefully lift the rear wheel away from the bike.

If needed, lift the derailleur and chain slightly to create enough clearance for the axle to come out.

Step 5 — Remove the Rear Tail Light

With the rear wheel removed, locate the small 2 mm screw holding the rear tail light into the mudguard.

  1. Carefully disconnect the mudguard light cable by pulling apart from the connector heads.
  2. Remove the retaining screw using a 2 mm hex key.
  3. Push the rear light upward so it comes out through the mudguard and frees itself.

Do not pull directly on the wiring, as this may damage the cable or connector.
