Lights, Brakes and Everyday ControlsUpdated an hour ago

Take a moment to check your Ridewave e-bike or e-trike controls before each ride, particularly if you are riding in low light, carrying cargo or returning to the vehicle after it has been stored. These quick checks are part of normal bike care and help you spot an issue before it affects a ride.

Lights

Check that the front and rear lights are working before riding in low-light conditions. Keep the lenses clean enough to be seen clearly, and do not ride at night if a required light is not operating correctly.

Ridewave e-trikes have a rear light for visibility and a brake light that illuminates when the brakes are applied. The exact light controls and functions can vary by model, so please refer to your Product Guide for the relevant instructions.

Brakes

Before every ride, test both brakes while stationary. The levers should feel secure and the vehicle should stop predictably. On your first few rides, use the brakes gently and allow a little extra stopping distance while you become familiar with the vehicle's weight and handling.

Please note that the motor assistance cuts off as soon as either brake lever is activated. Even a very slight pull can trigger the brake cut-off, whether or not you feel a noticeable braking effect.

Do not ride if:

  • A brake feels loose, weak, unusually stiff or does not work correctly.
  • The brake lever touches the handlebar when applied.
  • The vehicle pulls unexpectedly when braking.
  • Any part of the brake system appears damaged.

After delivery or during the first weeks of riding, small adjustments such as cable stretch or brake alignment can be part of normal bicycle maintenance. A qualified local bike shop can carry out a routine brake check or service if needed.

If motor assistance stops when you are not touching the brakes, and the brake light appears to stay on, the brake lever, cable or brake cut-off sensor may need an adjustment. A qualified local bike shop can inspect this safely.

Other controls

Some Ridewave models may include controls such as indicators, a parking brake, reverse or adjustable suspension. These features are model-specific, so check the Product Guide for your exact vehicle before using them.

If your brakes, steering, wheels or any other safety-critical component feels unsafe, stop riding and arrange a check before using the vehicle again.
