Local Repairs, Servicing and Warranty ApprovalUpdated 3 hours ago

Routine servicing is an important part of owning an e-bike or e-trike. Most competent local bike shops can assist with everyday mechanical work such as puncture repairs, tyre and tube replacement, brake adjustment, gear tuning, chain care and general safety checks.

These routine items are normally paid servicing rather than a warranty claim, particularly after the product has been ridden for a period of time.

When you can book a local service directly

You can generally arrange routine servicing yourself for normal wear, adjustment or maintenance. Examples include:

  • a puncture or worn tyre;
  • chain cleaning, lubrication or replacement;
  • brake-pad wear, brake rub or basic adjustment;
  • gear indexing or cable stretch after use;
  • tightening and adjustment as part of a normal service; and
  • a general safety check after assembly or transport.

Choose a reputable bike shop and retain any service paperwork for your records. If you are unsure whether a symptom is routine service or a possible product fault, submit a support request first.

When to contact Ridewave before repairs

Please use the Warranty Claim & Repair Request form before authorising repair work if:

  • you believe the issue may be covered by warranty;
  • you want Ridewave to review a proposed repair cost or labour reimbursement;
  • the issue involves the battery, charger, motor, controller, display or wiring;
  • the frame, fork, wheel, steering, braking or folding mechanism may be unsafe; or
  • you need a Ridewave-specific replacement part or compatibility check.

Ridewave may ask for photos, videos, an error code or a quote from the local shop before confirming the next step. We can sometimes arrange or recommend local technician support, but availability varies by area and must be checked for the individual case.

Why written approval matters

For potential warranty repairs, Ridewave needs to assess the issue before work is carried out. Third-party repair or labour costs are not automatically covered, and we cannot promise reimbursement after a repair has already been completed without written approval.

This is not intended to delay an urgent safety decision. If the vehicle is unsafe, stop riding it. If a battery or charger is damaged, wet, overheating, swollen, leaking, smoking or emitting vapour, stop using and charging it and keep clear of the area. In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000).
