Miniwave Frame Latch ReplacementUpdated a few seconds ago

If the folding frame latch on your Miniwave is damaged or worn and can no longer be adjusted to close securely, it can be replaced. This guide explains how to remove the old latch and fit a new one.

Tools & Parts

  • Replacement Miniwave frame latch (contact Ridewave Support to order)
  • 2 mm hex key
  • A small hex key or thin rod to push the pivot axle into place
  • Small flat-head screwdriver (for adjusting the new latch afterwards)

Parts of the Frame Latch

  • Pivot axle — the pin the latch swings on. It slides up into the frame from underneath.
  • Frame latch gap — the slot in the rear section of the frame where the latch sits.
  • Grub screw (2 mm hex) — on the inside face of the rear frame section; holds the pivot axle in place.
  • Pivot end — the end of the latch that the pivot axle passes through.

Step 1 — Remove the Old Latch

  1. Open the frame latch and fold the frame open so there is no tension on the latch.
  2. Undo the 2 mm grub screw on the inside face of the rear section of the frame.
  3. Let the pivot axle slide out of the bottom of the frame. You may need to gently wiggle the latch to help it slide out.
  4. With the pivot axle out, the latch will come free from the frame.

Step 2 — Install the New Latch

  1. Hold the pivot end of the new latch in the frame latch gap on the rear section of the frame, lining up the pivot axle hole in the latch with the hole in the frame as closely as you can.
  2. Slide the pivot axle, bevelled end first, into the hole on the underside of the rear frame section.
  3. Use a small hex key to push the axle up as far as it will go. It should pass through the frame, through the latch, and into the frame on the other side of the gap.
  4. Tighten the grub screw to hold the pivot axle in place.

Step 3 — Adjust the Tension

A new latch needs its tension set before riding. Follow Miniwave Frame Latch Adjustment so the latch closes snugly and sits flush with no movement at the joint.
