Miniwave Frame Latch AdjustmentUpdated a few seconds ago
The folding frame latch on your Miniwave should close with a firm, snug feel and sit flush against the frame. Over time, normal use can loosen the latch tension. This guide shows you how to adjust it.
Safety first: never ride with a latch that is loose, does not close fully, or opens by itself. If the latch or frame joint is damaged, stop riding and contact Ridewave Support instead of adjusting it.
Tools Required
- 2 mm hex key (for the grub screw)
- Small flat-head screwdriver (for the latch adjustment screw)
Know the Two Screws
There are two screws on the frame latch:
- Grub screw (2 mm hex) — locks the adjustment screw in place so it can’t move.
- Latch adjustment screw (flat-head) — sets how tight the latch closes.

Adjusting the Latch Tension
- Open the frame latch.
- Loosen the grub screw with the 2 mm hex key. You only need to loosen it — there is no need to remove it completely.
- Turn the latch adjustment screw:
- Clockwise to make the latch tighter.
- Counter-clockwise to make the latch looser.
- Make small adjustments (a quarter turn at a time) and test by closing the latch after each one.
- Once you are happy, re-tighten the grub screw to lock the adjustment screw in place.
Check Your Work
- The latch should need firm hand pressure to close and should sit flush with the frame.
- With the latch closed, there should be no movement or clicking at the folding joint when you push and pull on the handlebars.
- If the latch is so tight you can’t close it by hand, loosen the adjustment screw slightly. Never use a tool or your foot to force it closed.
If the latch still won’t hold securely after adjustment, see Folding Latch Will Not Close or Lock Securely. A worn or damaged latch can be replaced — see Miniwave Frame Latch Replacement.
