Miniwave Tyre and Tube SizesUpdated 5 hours ago

Tyres are one of the main wear items on any bike, and you’ll likely replace them a few times over the life of your Miniwave. This guide gives you the correct sizes and explains how to choose replacements.

Miniwave Tyre and Rim Sizes

Stock tyre20" × 3.0" puncture-resistant fat tyre
RimETRTO 406 × 40, 36 hole
Inner tube20" × 3.0"

You can buy a replacement 20" × 3.0" puncture-resistant tyre and tube from Ridewave.

How to Read a Tyre Size

Every tyre has its size printed or moulded on the sidewall:

  • The first number is the wheel diameter (for the Miniwave, 20).
  • The second number is the tyre width (for the Miniwave, 3.0).

How to read the tyre size on the sidewall

You may also see an ETRTO number such as 76-406. The second part (406) is the rim size and must match the Miniwave’s 406 rim. This is the most reliable way to confirm a 20" tyre will fit.

Choosing a Replacement

  • Choose a 20" × 3.0" tyre, the same size as the original.
  • Check the ETRTO rim size is 406.
  • Buy a tube that matches your tyre’s diameter and width. Tube boxes usually show a width range (for example 20 × 2.8–3.2).
  • Make sure the tube’s valve type matches your current tube so it fits the rim hole.
  • Puncture-resistant tyres or tyre sealant are worth considering if you ride on glass or thorns.

Tyre Pressure

Always inflate to within the pressure range printed on the tyre sidewall. Riding on under-inflated tyres is the most common cause of pinch flats, and too much pressure makes the ride harsh. Check your pressure before each ride.
