Tyres, Brakes and Routine ServicingUpdated an hour ago
Regular bicycle care helps keep your Ridewave e-bike or e-trike safe and comfortable to ride. Service needs vary with distance, load, terrain, weather and how often you ride, so there is no single interval that suits every rider.
Before regular rides
Take a minute to check:
- Tyres: They should be inflated to the pressure shown on the tyre sidewall and free from obvious cuts, bulges or embedded debris.
- Brakes: Both brakes should feel secure and stop the vehicle predictably while stationary.
- Key bolts and controls: Handlebars, pedals, saddle or seat, wheels and accessories should feel secure.
- Chain and drivetrain: Keep the chain clean and lubricated as needed. Listen for new clicking, grinding or rubbing sounds.
- Battery and lights: Make sure the battery is secure and that the display and lights work as expected.
For an e-trike, also check that cargo is secure and within the vehicle's stated capacity before setting off.
First tune-up and ongoing servicing
We recommend a first check or tune-up after the first few weeks of riding, or around 100–300 km, depending on use. This helps identify normal early adjustments such as cable stretch, brake alignment, gear indexing and bolt checks.
After that, arrange routine servicing based on your riding conditions and any change in feel or performance. Most standard local bike shops can assist with tyres, brakes, gears, chain care and general safety checks.
The motor, battery and electrical system generally do not need routine servicing. If an electrical issue arises, please contact Ridewave before arranging repairs so we can help determine the right next step.
When to arrange a check promptly
Stop riding and arrange a qualified inspection if a brake feels weak, a wheel is loose, the steering moves unexpectedly, a tyre is damaged, or any safety-critical part feels unsafe.
Routine adjustments after a period of use, such as brake or gear tuning, are generally normal maintenance. If you believe an issue may be a product fault, please contact Ridewave before approving third-party repair work, as warranty-related repairs and costs need written approval first.
