Water Exposure: After Rain, Washing or a Wet RideUpdated 3 hours ago

Riding in light rain is different from directing water into electrical components. Do not use a pressure washer or hose electrical areas such as the battery, motor, display, controller, charging port or connectors.

If the vehicle is wet but operating normally

Switch the vehicle off after the ride. Wipe moisture from the frame and exposed areas with a soft cloth, then leave it in a dry, ventilated place before charging. Keep the charging port and battery connection area dry. Do not charge outdoors in rain or on a wet floor.

Stop using and charging if

Stop using and charging the vehicle if it was submerged, pressure-washed, had water enter the charging port/battery area, or now shows a blank display, error code, unusual electrical behaviour, heat, smell, smoke or visible cable damage.

Do not try to “dry it out” by charging, taking the battery apart, using a heat gun or spraying contact cleaner into electrical parts. Remove the battery only if it can be done normally and safely, then keep it dry and away from heat and flammable materials.

Record what happened

Please note:

  • whether the vehicle was ridden in rain, washed with a hose/pressure washer, dropped in water or exposed to flooding;
  • which areas got wet;
  • whether the issue appeared immediately or later;
  • what display/charger lights or error code are present; and
  • whether the battery or charger became warm or behaved unusually.

Take photos before wiping away evidence of a visible issue. If there is smoke, sparks or an active fire risk, move away, call emergency services if needed, and do not handle a hot or smoking battery.

Need help?

Use the warranty claim form for a possible electrical issue after water exposure. Include the details above plus photos/video. Water damage assessment depends on the circumstances; do not assume it is automatically covered. For safe cleaning guidance, contact Ridewave.
