Miniwave Display Error CodesUpdated a few seconds ago
If something doesn’t feel right with your Miniwave, safely pull over and check the display for an error code. Codes can appear only briefly, so note down (or photograph) any number you see — it makes diagnosis much faster.
The table below covers the codes used by the Miniwave’s KD21C display. It is a starting point for simple checks, not a full diagnosis.
Safety first: stop riding if an error affects the brakes, steering or motor control, or appears together with battery heat, swelling, a burning smell or water damage. Turn the bike off and remove the battery before checking any cables.
Miniwave Error Code Table
| Code | Meaning | Safe first steps |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | Over voltage | Make sure you are using the original Ridewave 48V charger. Turn the bike off, unplug the charger and wait 5 minutes before turning it back on. |
| 11 | Under voltage | The battery is too low. Fully charge the battery, then check it is seated firmly and locked into the frame. |
| 12 | Over current or MOSFET fault | Often caused by working the motor hard (long, steep climbs with little pedalling). Pull over, turn the bike off and wait 5 minutes before turning it back on. |
| 13 | Speed feedback fault | Check the motor cable connection near the rear wheel. Make sure it is clean, aligned and fully pushed together. |
| 14 | Motor hall sensor fault | Check the motor cable connection near the rear wheel and inspect the cable where it leaves the axle for cuts, pinching or pulling damage. |
| 15 | Motor phase fault | Common after the rear wheel has been removed or the bike has been transported. Check the motor cable is reconnected properly, clean and firmly seated. |
| 16 | Throttle fault | Press and release the throttle — it should spring back by itself. Check for anything blocking it, and inspect the throttle cable for cuts, fraying or a loose plug. |
| 17 | Over temperature (controller or motor) | Stop and let the bike cool down for at least 15–20 minutes in the shade. Use a lower assist level or pedal more on long climbs. |
| 18 | Voltage fault | Remove and refit the battery, making sure it clicks in and locks. Check the battery and frame terminals for dirt or damage. |
| 19 | Abnormal output | Turn the bike off, wait 5 minutes and turn it back on. If the code returns, contact Ridewave Support. |
| 20 | Controller (CPU) fault | Turn the bike off and back on once. If the code returns, do not keep riding — contact Ridewave Support. |
| 21 | Runaway protection | The system has cut power because it detected unexpected motor output. Stop riding, turn the bike off and check the throttle returns fully. Contact Ridewave Support if it happens again. |
| 22 | Pedal assist (cadence) sensor fault | Check the cadence sensor on the left side of the bottom bracket is not damaged or knocked out of place, and that its cable is connected. |
| 23 | Speed sensor fault | Check the motor cable connection near the rear wheel. Make sure the speed reading on the display looks normal when you ride. |
| 24 | Communication fault | The display is not receiving information from the controller. Check the display cable and handlebar plugs for damage, corrosion or a loose connection. |
| 30 | Communication abnormality | Same checks as code 24. A stressed or damaged display cable is the most common cause. |
| 31 | MOSFET short circuit | Stop using the bike and contact Ridewave Support. Do not keep switching it on. |
| 32 | Power (On/Off) button stuck | Make sure the button is not being held down or jammed by dirt. Don’t press any buttons while the display is starting up. |
| 33 | “−” button stuck | Same as code 32: free the button and avoid pressing it during start-up. |
| 34 | Over voltage failure | Stop charging and only use the original Ridewave 48V charger. Contact Ridewave Support if the code returns. |
Note: The Miniwave does not show an error code for the brake cut-off sensors. If the display is on but the motor won’t assist, see Miniwave Brake Sensor Test and Adjustment.
Still Seeing the Code?
- Try a display factory reset first (see Miniwave Display Factory Reset). This clears settings that may have been changed by accident.
- To check cable connections inside the frame, see Miniwave Controller Removal for Service, which shows every controller plug.
- Follow How to Read and Report a Display Error Code to capture the right photos and video.
Need Help?
If the code stays after these checks, please submit a warranty claim with your order number, a photo of the display showing the code and a short video of the bike starting up. For general help, contact Ridewave Support.
Service note: Turn the bike off and remove the battery before working near electrical components. Do not pull or damage wiring. If you are unsure, please use a qualified bicycle technician.
